Question 1

Entry Won't Send - "Something Went Wrong" Appears

Accepted Answer

Check your internet connection, log out and back in from the You section, pull down to refresh the journal, or try recording the next day. If the issue persists, use the three-dot menu to send feedback.

Question 2

Poor Text-to-Speech Quality (Errors & Mistakes)

Accepted Answer

Give negative feedback and select 'Poor speech-to-text quality', then edit the note. For persistent issues, contact us and we'll investigate.

Question 3

AI Says Things That Never Happened

Accepted Answer

This is called AI hallucination. AI models sometimes generate details that weren't in your original entry. You can edit the snapshot or provide feedback to help improve accuracy.

Question 4

How to transfer your journal to a new device

Accepted Answer

Turn on Tellself Cloud Backup on your old device and tap Force Backup. Use the same login method on your new device, enable Cloud Backup, then tap Restore Backup. Transferring between Android and iOS is only possible with Tellself Cloud Backup.

Question 5

Is Tellself really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The free version includes journal entries, AI insights, cloud backups, themes, and export functionality. Premium reports require a subscription due to advanced processing costs.

Question 6

Do you read my journal?

Accepted Answer

No — your journal is stored only on your device. When you record, data is temporarily uploaded for AI processing and then disappears from our servers within minutes. Every transfer is fully encrypted.

Question 7

Do you use my journal to train AI?

Accepted Answer

No. We don't store journals, so we don't have your data. We use enterprise-grade AI models that explicitly forbid training on user data. We improve the AI through anonymous ratings only.

Question 8

How to lock your journal

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings, select App Lock, and follow the instructions to enable passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID protection.

Question 9

Should I use Tellself Cloud or Google Drive for backups?

Accepted Answer

We strongly recommend Tellself Cloud — it's more reliable, works across devices, and gives you full control. Use Google Drive only as a last resort.

Question 10

Can you recover my journal if I lose my phone?

Accepted Answer

No — your journal is stored only on your device. The only exception is Cloud Backup. Enable it now — it's free, secure, and private.

Question 11

How to delete your Tellself account

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings, then in the Account section select Delete Account and follow the instructions. This permanently deletes your account and is irreversible.

Question 12

Will you increase my subscription price?

Accepted Answer

Only for new users. If you're already a member, your price stays locked for as long as you keep your subscription active.
